A delegation from the Turkish government has reportedly arrived in the city of Bosaso, the commercial capital of Puntland, to hold talks with the top leadership of the Puntland government.

The focus of the discussions is the release of the weapons-carrying ship Sea World, which is currently being held at the port of Bosaso.

Turkey wants Puntland to release the ship peacefully. The ship was seized last month off the coast of Bareeda in the Bari region and was carrying a large quantity of weapons.

This development has effectively sidelined the threats from the Somali federal government, which had demanded that Puntland release the ship unconditionally.
